Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page! I am honored to be nominated by JDRF to be a part of the ONE Group: a group of 25 young Atlantan professionals coming together to raise funds and awareness towards finding a cure for T1D!

You may know that I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 22.  Adjusting to my new life as a Type 1 Diabetic has not been easy.  I've had some highs and lows (get it?!) and it has been quite a roller coaster ride.  While I do think Type 1 Diabetes has added more depth and perspective to my life, the past 5 years have been a tremendous struggle.  My first three years with diabetes, I was taking almost 10 shots of insulin per day.  I am now on a pump and CGM (continuous glucose monitor), which make life a lot easier. I've had dangerous lows, unhealthy highs, and it's given me some of the most emotional (good and bad) moments of my life.  As Type 1s know, this disease takes constant energy and monitoring to be able to function throughout the day and to be able to have a future free of dangerous complications (neuropathy, kidney failure, blindness).  Because I lived 22 years of my life WITHOUT Type 1, I know that this is a much better quality of life.  Life as a T1D is a lot of work and we are ready to put an end to it by finding a cure!
