I am excited to announce I have been selected as a
member of Atlanta’s ONE Group by the JDRF Georgia Chapter. As an honoree, I
have made a personal pledge to raise at least $7,000 for type 1 research. I
would like to invite you to support this cause that is very dear to me.
My husband, Matthew Madsen was diagnosed with Type 1
diabetes at the age of 5. Back then it meant: super worried parents, lots of
finger pricks, at least 4 insulin shots daily, trips to the doctor & hospital, limitations
from doing normal kid activities, and most important to him at the
time, no Halloween candy :(. Luckily, since then he has matured and the thing most
important to him is being healthy. Through advancements in insulin and
technology he is able to live a life that seems normal to others. He focuses on
eating healthy and working out to help maintain proper blood levels. Unfortunately,
no matter how hard one tries, eliminating the blood sugar spikes or drops is currently
impossible. This causes those affected to become nauseous, irritated, lethargic
or even worse, unconscious. Type 1 also has serious long term effects on a
body.
JDRF really needs your funds to continue research to
eliminate this disease. If I could take away
T1D from Matthew and all of the others affected right now, I would. While this
is not possible, I CAN and WILL show my support and help raise funds to find a
cure for Matthew and the thousands of others affected by this disease.
You can donate now, or buy tickets to join me at The ONE
Party held on November 5th at The Estate on Atlanta. The ONE party will
include a presentation of honorees, cocktails, fine cuisine, music and dancing.
Matthew and I will be there! It will be a fun time!
I cannot thank you enough for your support. It means the
world!
God Bless,
-Heather
