I have been selected as a member of Atlanta's ONE Group by the JDRF Georgia Chapter.  Honorees were selected based on their professional and philanthropic accomplishments, as well as their commitment to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work.

I, along with others, will be honored at The One Party on November 7th at The Estate.  This exciting evening includes a presentation of honorees, cocktails, great food, music and dancing!

As a type 1 diabetic for nearly 30 years, I will always take the opportunity to ask my friends and family to join me in support of raising money for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.  Your support over the years has led to tremendous breakthroughs-- fast acting insulin, insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors and very soon--an artificial pancreas!  This progress has allowed me to live a healthy life and this past year, deliver a healthy baby girl!  I will always be indebted to what you and JDRF have allowed me to accomplish!  We aren't there yet though-- I have years ahead and now fight so that I don't have to worry about Charlotte facing the same future.

As an honoree, I have pledged to raise at least $2500 this year for that research. I would like to invite you to support me in this very worthy cause.  I would sincerely appreciate any contributions that you can make and would love for you to join me at The Estate on November 7th.

Thank you in advance!
Emily

ABOUT JDRF

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.

As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries. In 2012 alone, JDRF provided more than $110 million to T1D research. More than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. In 2012 Forbes magazine named JDRF one of its five All-Star charities, citing the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.
